Hurczyn Leads 35-Car TC America Field to Road America

ELKHART LAKE, WI – TCR driver's championship points leader Michael Hurczyn will lead a 35-car TC America Series field to Road America's challenging 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course September 20-22. The penultimate race weekend on the series' 2019 calendar will showcase two 40-minute TC contests and two identically timed TCR/TCA races.

Can Vincent Cut into Hurczyn's Championship Points Lead?

As he has for much of the season, FCP Euro team driver Michael Hurczyn comes into the weekend atop the driver's championship standings with 225 points. The driver of the #71 Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR has not finished outside of the top 3 in any of the 12 races to date.

Heading into the final four races of the season, the driver that has a chance to battle Hurczyn for the championship is his teammate Nate Vincent who comes into the weekend with 181 points. Vincent will drive the #72 Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR. The FCP Euro team has a strong hold of the team championship and their efforts have positioned VW at the top of the manufacturer’s championship standings.

The two drivers looking to play the spoiler role at Road America are Michael McCann Jr. and James Walker. McCann Jr. had an impressive effort at Watkins Glen winning both races in his #3 McCann Racing Audi Sport RS3 LMS, while Walker has had a consistent season and sits third in the class driver championship. Walker will drive the #34 Risi Competizione Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

Also entered in TCR is the #99 VGMC Racing Honda Civic Type-R for Victor Gonzalez. Gonzalez comes into the weekend in fifth in the championship.

In TCR Cup, Bryan Putt has had a dominating season and comes into the weekend leading in the class with 243 points – he will drive the #15 Bsport Racing Audi Sport RS3 LMS (DSG). Christian Cole comes into the weekend second in class points with 188 and will pilot the #27 McCann Racing Audi Sport RS3 LMS (DSG).

Schwartz Controls Destiny Heading into Road America

Johan Schwartz comes into the weekend with a healthy lead in the TC driver's championship and will look to continue his visits to victory circle with a strong showing in Wisconsin. He'll drive the Rooster Hall Racing #80 BMW M240iR Cup. Schwartz' teammate Steve Streimer comes into the weekend fourth in the championship and will drive the #81 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M240iR Cup.

Toby Grahovec enters the weekend second in the driver’s standings and with four races left in the season still has a mathematical chance of catching Schwartz if the stars align in his favor. He’ll drive the #26 Classic BMW BMW M240iR Cup. Classic BMW also enters the #29 BMW M240iR Cup for Breton Williams.

Auto Technic Racing’s Robert Nimkoff enters the weekend third in the driver’s standings and will look to spoil the party for Schwartz. He’ll pilot the #20 BMW M240iR Cup. Auto Technic Racing also brings their #52 BMW M240iR Cup for Tom Capizzi, who sits ninth in the driver’s standings, and the #21 BMW M240iR Cup for Mark Brummond.

Rearden Racing’s Paul Terry had a breakout Watkins Glen outdueling Schwartz to win his first race of the season in Round 9, while finishing third in Round 10. He will drive the #33 Nissan 370z.

Cameron Evans will look to get back into victory circle at Road America - he won earlier this season at Sonoma and will pilot the #82 Copart / BimmerWorld Racing BMW M240iR Cup. He will team with Chandler Hull who is entered to race the #94 BMW M240iR Cup and James Clay in the #63 Copart / BimmerWorld Racing BMW M240iR.

Maxson, Wittmer and Pombo Set to Faceoff at Road America

In TCA, Canadian Nick Wittmer suddenly finds himself in second place looking to catch Tyler Maxson who sits atop the division's championship standings. Wittmer held an 18-point lead heading into Watkins Glen but a DNF in Round 9 coupled with Maxson's two second place finishes in Rounds 9 and 10 has Maxson with a 12-point lead heading to Road America. Wittmer will drive the #91 TechSport Racing Subaru BRZ tS, while Maxson will drive #74 Copeland Motorsports Mazda Global MX5 Cup ND.2

Mark Pombo continued his hot streak at Watkins Glen sweeping the weekend and has now won three races in a row.
