Tyler Maxson has been on a tear in 2020 and the talented phenom looks to continue his momentum this week. Piloting a Copeland Motorsports prepared Hyundai Veloster N TCR, Maxson has garnered five victories in as many races and will be hunting for three more this coming weekend. Taking on the famed Sonoma Raceway, the 2019 TCA champion is looking to add the 2020 TCR title to his list of accolades.
"It has been an unreal season to date both on and off the track," explained Maxson. "From winning in Texas to being sent home in St. Pete due to the COVID outbreak to returning and winning in Virginia, it has been something that I would have never thought would happen back in winter testing. It has been a crazy year, but I am not complaining about the wins at all!"
Going five-for-five on the season so far, the Georgia resident is aiming to add to his win total this coming weekend. With a healthy 61-point advantage after only five rounds, Maxson is taking nothing for granted.
"It is easier to fall into a slump than it is to be on top, so we need to keep pushing hard," added Maxson. "One miscue could ruin any weekend and any advantage that we have. The goal is the championship, and we are working hard for that."
Tyler Maxson will hit the track this Wednesday and Thursday for practice before qualifying and race one on Friday. Race two and three of the weekend will go green Saturday and Sunday as Maxson looks to go eight-for-eight when the final checkered flag flies on Sunday, August 9th.
Tyler Maxson would like to thank Copeland Motorsports, Bryan Herta Autosport, Hyundai, HRX USA and Four Seasons Auto Wash for all of their help, support and hard work throughout the 2020 season.
