Jacob Ruud ‘4 for 4’ in New TCX Action in 2021 for Fast Track Racing; College Student Set for More at VIR in #81 Light Speed/Classic BMW

ALTON, Va. – Young Jacob Ruud of Racine, Wis., brings his perfect 2021 TCX racing record to VIRginia International Raceway this weekend (June 4-6) as the college student seeks another doubleheader race-winning event in his #81 Light Speed/Classic BMW BMW M2CS Racing Cup sports car in the SRO America road racing competition.

The 21-year-old senior at Rochester Institute of Technology has scored an undefeated record thus far with doubleheader wins at Sonoma Raceway and Circuit of the America (COTA) with dominant performances in all four 40-minute sprint contests in the next TCX division, part of TC America sports car competition at the fast VIR 3.27-mile, 17-turn road course.

Ruud has also scored pole positions and fastest race laps in the four races in 2021 when VIR action opens Friday at 9:45 a.m. EDT. Qualifying for the two VIR TCX features is scheduled at 9:40 a.m. Saturday with Race 1 at 3:55 p.m. Sunday’s TCX finale is set for 3:35 p.m.

“The COTA races were so much different,” said Ruud. “Sunday’s race was much easier than Saturday’s wild affair. In the dry, I had a great car, and everything was just awesome. It was quite a contrast from Saturday’s race when I was driving in my first rain event. It was wild. The track was very tough for the rear-wheel-drive cars, and I had to be very careful. But I’m very excited to win the opening four races of the season and I looking forward to continuing the trend at a great track like VIR.”

Ruud will be joined in the Fast Track Racing TCX team with Olivia Askew in the #3 DXDT Racing/Classic BMW BMW M2 CS Racing Cup car as the Utah racer makes her 2021 TCX debut with the Texas-based Fast Track Racing squad. Askew finished sixth in last year’s TCR class.

The TCX and TC America highlights will be shown on the CBS Sports Network on Sunday (June 13) at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
