Watkins Glen, NY - Second practice for TC America Powered by Skip Barber Racing School at Watkins Glen International was led by the #81 BMW M2 CS Cup of Jacob Ruud for Classic BMW with a fastest lap of 2:02.570. Ruud swept both Friday practices at Watkins Glen and continues to set the mark for drivers to chase in the TCX category. In second was the #38 BMW M2 CS Cup of Joseph Catania with Rigid Speed, ahead of third place Roy Block, driving the #5 BMW for KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering in TCX. Block is currently second in the driver standings and aims to close the gap to Jacob Ruud at Watkins Glen.
In the TC category, the #9 Honda Civic Type-R of Kevin Boehm of DXDT Racing ran a 2:05.593, ahead of his championship rival (the #92 Honda Civic Type-R of Eric Powell) by eight tenths of a second. The #51 BMW M240iR of Austen Smith was second quickest, just twenty-nine thousandths of a second behind Boehm. Smith’s Auto Technic Racing teammate, the #52 BMW M240iR of Tom Capizzi, was third fastest in the second practice at The Glen.
The #16 Honda Civic Si of Carter Fartuch, driving for Skip Barber Racing School, was fastest in the TCA category with a time of 2:11.845. Fartuch trails behind the #18 Hyundai Veloster Turbo of Caleb Bacon, driving for Forbush Performance, in the TCA driver’s championship. Bacon managed 7th in second practice. The second quickest car in TCA was the #99 Honda Civic Si of Jose Blanco from VGMC Racing, who trailed Fartuch’s best time by four tenths of a second. Sally McNulty matched her position from first practice, running third fastest in TCA in her #780 Honda Civic Si.
TC America Powered by Skip Barber Racing school qualifies on Saturday, September 18th, at 9:40 AM ET. Race 1 will follow at 4:25 PM. Both races will air live on SRO’s GT World YouTube Channel.
