Putt Tops Rain-Affected TCR, TCA Second Practice

Rain clouds over Virginia International Raceway meant the second joint TCR/TCA practice session of the weekend took place in challenging conditions with several teams opting to remain in their garages for the 35-minute duration.

Of the drivers who did turn laps, Brian Putt set the quickest time aboard the #15 eEuroparts.com ROWE Racing Audi RS3 LMS TCR.

Putt managed a 2:36.438 in his TCR Cup car, while Taylor Hagler posted the second-best effort overall in the TCA-entered #77 X-Factor Racing Honda Civic Si.

Like the TC series, which also had its second Friday practice session affected by rain, the TCR and TCA runners that didn’t head out on-track remained back at base to prepare for tomorrow’s race action.

The 25-strong field will regroup under sunnier skies for qualifying tomorrow morning, where the grid for the first of the weekend’s two races will be decided.

Qualifying is set to get underway at 10:05 a.m. EDT, with live coverage available at TCAmerica.us.
