- Ruud leads the field from start to finish taking the overall and TCX class win

Sonoma, California - The TC America 2022 season got underway at the Sonoma Raceway with three classes running on the track simultaneously including TCX, TC and TCA. Prior to the green flag, the family and friends of Joe Jordan gave the ceremonial command for the drivers to start their engines in memory of Jordan who was the lead commentator for the public address system and SiriusXM radio during SRO America races for the past three seasons. Jordan passed away in late 2021.
Starting on the outside of the first row, Jacob Ruud #1 Fast Track Racing driving a BMW M2 CS in the TCX class led from the drop of the green flag and never looked back to the checkered flag finish with the Crowdstrike fastest lap time of 1:52.331. Ruud was able to hold off the #57 Accelerating Performance BMW M2 CS Stephen Cugliari, and #26 Rigid Speed BMW M2 CS with Lucas Catania behind the wheel respectively. Polesitter Steve Streimer in the #30 HARD Motorsport BMW just missed the podium with a strong fourth place finish.
“I think it’s going to be a great season, I’m glad that we’ve got more cars involved this year, and that will hopefully make for closer racing and more TV time for TCX this year,” said Ruud.
In TC action, #9 Skip Barber Racing, Honda Civic Type-R driven by Kevin Boehm was able to win by 10.890 seconds. “It was patience. We got to the lead fairly quick, then it was a matter of getting into a rhythm,” said Boehm. Coming in second place was #37 LA Honda World Racing’s Mat Pombo in his Honda Civic Type-R, and in third was Clay Williams in the #60 MINI JCW Team entry.
Carter Fartuch driving the #16 Skip Barber Racing School, Honda Civic Si FE1 captured first place in the TCA class. Placing second in class was #21 TechSport Racing, Subaru BRZ with Gresham Wager behind the wheel. He was followed by rookie Spencer Bucknum making his debut in the #5 LA Honda World Racing, Honda Civic Si.
“We did a lot of preparation this year, new equipment and everything and it showed today,” said Fartuch.
