TC America powered by Skip Barber finished under green amidst a collection of cars coming together mixing up the field at NOLA Motorsports Park in Race One of the weekend.

While the race leaders were unscathed by the drama of the last five minutes, the field was shaken and stirred. The first yellow of the race came with multiple cars finding their way into the infield of the 2.75-mile, 16-turn circuit.

TCX Class and TCA Class drivers were in the mix including Kenny Schmeid in the No. 14 AOA Racing BMW M2 CS who was fighting for a top-five finish. Devin Anderson in the No. 22 TechSport Racing Subaru BRZ was also caught up in the yellow, making it a rough points day for the driver who took home a Race One win at Sonoma Raceway.

TCX CLASS
There were many storylines to follow in TCX. Winner Kyle Loh in the No. 73 LA Honda World Racing Honda Civic Type-R took home his second win of the season. Second-place finisher Dai Yoshihara in the No. 99 VGRT Honda Civic Type-R won redemption after being unable to run at Sonoma Raceway though he won the pole for both races at the venue. Colin Garret in the No. 44 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M2 CS steered clear of contact to take home third. Garret and Loh have finished on the podium or won every race thus far.

‘My mind is blown, I can barely think right now,” Loh said. “I feel gutted for Colin. He works really hard every weekend. But I work just as hard and I’m excited to get this win.”

TC CLASS
Jeff Ricca in the No. 78 Genracer/ Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TC continued to dominate the TC Class. This marks three wins in a row for Ricca. He was followed across the finish line by Celso Neto in the No. 7 Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Type R. This was Nato’s first podium of the year. Third place went to Cristian Perocarpi in the No. 37 MINI JCW Team Mini JCW Pro TC. His second podium of the season showed the MINI JCW Team is going to be tough to beat as a consistent podium contender and finisher.

“Last night my team and I were here until two in the morning putting in a new engine because it blew in practice,” Ricca said. “That last corner gave us a lot to talk about. I’ll have to look over the video first. I’m just happy to walk away with the win. It’s dedicated to the team.”

TCA CLASS
Spencer Bucknum in the No. 5 LA Honda World Racing Honda Civic Si FE1 started from the pole and never looked back taking home another win for LA Honda World and his second win of the year. William Lambros pressured Bucknum in his No. 77 Skip Barber Racing Honda Civic Si FE1 to no avail. Third place went to PJ Groenke who earned his first podium of the year after tough battles and dodging cars.

“The Honda Civic ran great the whole race. I can’t say enough about the LA Honda World team,” Bucknum said. “I want to thank my sponsors who do so much for me. This win was great. I hope we can do it again tomorrow.”
