Racers Edge Motorsports will campaign the new Acura Integra Type S in the 2024 TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School series. Chris DeFreitas, an HPD Academy graduate, in his second year as a professional racer, will pilot the TCX machinery.
Dr. Chris DeFreitas, an emergency medicine specialist based in Tallahassee, Florida, joins Racers Edge Motorsports this season to pilot the No. 39 Acura Integra Type S in the TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School series. After completing the 2022 HPD Academy with the team, DeFreitas competed in the TC America series last season driving a Honda Civic Type R under the Ian Lacy Racing banner. DeFreitas took the checker for nine races in 2023, gaining valuable experience in his rookie season.
“I’m very excited to be coming back for my second season in TC America. Last year I learned a ton and got up to speed with a field of much more experienced drivers. This year I’m looking forward to continuing my progress and adding to my racing experience. The Integra looks awesome and I can’t wait to put it through its paces. I can’t think of many better things in life than a brand spankin’ new factory-made race car!”
Racers Edge Motorsports continues to work with Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) who will provide technical and trackside support in 2024 for the Acura Integra Type S.
The 2024 TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing series begins April 5 -7 at Sonoma Raceway with the same race format as last season: two 40-minute races in each of the seven weekend events, with one driver per car. On track action goes green Wednesday, with two days of unofficial test sessions for all of the SRO America series.
