The TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School field were back on track for Practice 2 under sunny skies and scorching temperatures, with the 30 minute session serving as a final opportunity for drivers and teams to push their limits before the Qualifying session to be held first thing Saturday morning.
Lucas Catania set the fastest time in the TCX Class and overall in the No. 17 Rigid Speed BMW M2 CS (Cup) with a time of 2:20.149. Cristian Perocarpi soared to the top of the TC Class with a time of 2:23.462 in the No. 37 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW TC Pro. PJ Groenke was the fastest in the TCA Class again in the No. 62 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW with a time of 2:32.187.
TCX Class
Lucas Catania established himself as the top contender in the TCX Class early into the session, setting the best time of the session on board his No. 17 Rigid Speed BMW M2 CS (Cup) during his third lap, with a time of 2:20.149 making him the one to catch. It was very tight between Catania and Chris Walsh, who was just 0.062 seconds behind in the No. 104 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M2 CS (Cup).
Celso Neto had another Top 3 time in Practice 2 on board his No. 22 Skip Barber Racing Acura Integra Type S, with Joseph Catania in the No. 16 Rigid Speed BMW M2 CS (Cup) and Aaron Kaplan in the No. 18 Kaplan Racing Systems BMW M2 CS (Cup) also replicating their previous performances to finish fourth and fifth in Practice 2.
TC Class
Jeff Ricca was in top form, going quickest in his No. 78 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC with a time of 2:23.770. He maintained the lead for the majority of the session as he established a solid gap between himself and the next closest class competitor.
However, on the final lap of the session, Cristian Perocarpi set a blistering lap time of 2:23.462 to go quickest in the TC Class with his No. 37 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW TC Pro, therefore relegating Ricca to second position.
Joey Jordan in the No. 71 FTG Racing Mazda 3 and Sally McNulty in the No. 780 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC saw further improvement, setting the third and fourth quickest times in class. The Top 5 was completed by Ruben Iglesias Jr. in the No. 77 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC.
TCA Class
PJ Groenke was back on top once again in the TCA Class, showing his dominance and skill in the No. 62 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW with a time of 2:32.187.
Alex Garcia had a solid session, moving up to second position in Practice 2 in the No. 14 Skip Barber Racing Honda Civic Si FE1, with Maddy Lemke rounding off the Top 3 in her No. 9 Ascent Racing Honda Civic Si FE1, and Alan Grossberg continued to gain experience in the series in his No. 63 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW.
