It was an action-packed 15-minute Qualifying session for TC America Powered by Skip Barber Racing School field, with tight battles for the top spot across all three classes as drivers took off around Circuit of The Americas.
Chris Walsh was the one to beat in the TCX class, securing the ROWE Pole Position Award with a best time of 2:22.950. The top time in the TC class belonged to Jeff Ricca, securing another pole position for himself with a time of 2:25.701. In the TCA class, it was PJ Groenke who qualified in first place with a time of 2:31.628.
TCX Class
Chris Walsh was in top form once again in the TCX class in his No. 104 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M2 CS (Cup), setting the best time overall in the final minutes of the session with a flying lap time of 2:22.950. Walsh was the only driver to set a time within the 2:22 mark, with Celso Neto being the second-fastest qualifier in the No. 22 Skip Barber Racing Acura Integra Type S with a time of 2:23.226.
Lucas Catania will start Race 1 from the second row after qualifying in third in his No. 17 Rigid Speed BMW M2 CS (Cup), with the Top 3 competitors separated by less than a second overall.
TC Class
It was another strong Qualifying session for Ricca Autosport in the TC class, as Jeff Ricca added another pole position to his name, clocking in the best time of 2:25.701 in his No. 78 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC, which was also the fifth-best time overall. His teammate Sally McNulty qualified in third in the No. 780 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N Cup, separated by the No. 71 FTG Racing Mazda 3 of Joey Jordan who finished the session in second position.
TCA Class
After setting the top time in Practice 2 yesterday, PJ Groenke returned to the top of the time sheets once again in the TCA class as he clinched another pole position in his No. 62 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW with a best time of 2:31.628. The second-fastest time was set by Alex Garcia in the No. 14 Skip Barber Racing Honda Civic Si FE1.
Maddy Lemke completed the Top 3 in the No. 9 Ascent Racing Honda Civic Si FE1, with Alan Grossberg lining up alongside her on the grid for Race 1 in the No. 63 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW.
