The iconic Road America will host the ninth and tenth rounds of the TC America powered by Skip Barber championship, as competitors across all three classes prepare to rise to the occasion at one of the most challenging road courses on the calendar. The field will tackle the 14-turn, 4.048-mile track in two 40-minute sprint events.
Fans can look forward to more than just the races. On Thursday, August 15th, a full-field car parade will roll through the streets of Elkhart Lake, offering a close-up view of SRO America’s impressive range of race cars. Throughout the weekend, spectators can enjoy open paddock activities such as autograph sessions, on-site camping, and the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS pre-race grid walk on Sunday.
TCX Class
Celso Neto picked up his first win of the season at the previous event in Virginia, driving to victory with his No. 22 Skip Barber Racing Acura Integra Type S, and in doing so he put a stop to Chris Walsh’s winning streak. However, it wasn’t long before the driver of the No. 104 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M2 CS (Cup) found himself back on the top step of the podium as he reclaimed first place in Race 2.
Two consecutive third place finishes enabled Cooper Broll in the No. 19 Skip Barber Racing Acura Integra Type S to gain another place in the TCX championship standings, now sitting ahead of Aaron Kaplan in the No. 18 Kaplan Racing Systems BMW M2 CS (Cup) and Christopher DeFreitas in the No. 39 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura Integra Type S.
TC Class
There were battles unfolding all over the place in the previous rounds in the TC class, notably between championship leader Jeff Ricca in the No. 78 Genracer/Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N Cup and Cristian Perocarpi in the No. 37 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW TC Pro. Ricca claimed the Race 1 victory, with Perocarpi taking the top spot in Race 2.
Ruben Iglesias Jr. also secured two podium results of his own in his No. 77 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N Cup, with his consistency keeping him in the championship title hunt.
Sally McNulty and Scott Thomson were entangled in some fierce battles of their own in their respective No. 780 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N Cup and No. 66 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW TC Pro.
Meanwhile, the Ricca Autosport fleet continues to expand, with newcomers Connor Attrell and Vin Anatra commanding the No. 75 and No. 76 Hyundai Elantra N1 TC entries.
TCA Class
Alex Garcia swept the weekend at VIR in his No. 14 Skip Barber Racing Honda Civic Si FE1, with PJ Groenke finishing just behind in the No. 62 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW. Groenke still has a strong hold over the top position on the class leaderboard, but Garcia has now won three consecutive races, and they’ll be ready to go wheel to wheel once again.
The TCA class welcomes a new face on the grid as Bruce Myrehn joins the competition in the No. 63 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW.
