The 2024 TC America Season in Review

The 2024 season of TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School was nothing short of exhilarating, with breakout stars, redemption arcs, and intense battles across all three TCX, TC, and TCA classes. As the best touring car talents took on the greatest tracks in the country, they kept fans on edge until the very end.

As SRO America prepares for an action-packed 2025 season that features a brand-new format for even closer racing, let’s take a moment to revisit the standout moments and unforgettable highlights that made this past year one to remember.

• Chris Walsh was simply unstoppable in the TCX class, kicking off the season with six consecutive wins. Although he went on to be challenged by the likes of Celso Neto, who managed to snatch six wins away for himself, Walsh concluded his season with eight total victories and six further podium finishes. He never finished worse than second place, and his consistency and dominance saw him wrap up the class championship early as he claimed the title at Barber Motorsports Park.

• After finishing the 2023 season as Vice-Champion, for Jeff Ricca, 2024 was all about doing one better. With eight wins and three podiums to his credit, he was able to accomplish this feat and achieve his goal of becoming the champion of the TC class. His strength and consistency saw him finish sizeably ahead of the next-closest competitor, and his season was made even sweeter as Ricca Autosport seized the team championship as well.

• PJ Groenke was in a league of his own in the TCA class, taking eight wins and six second-place finishes, never finishing off the podium all season long. Although Alex Garcia was able to make a charge for the top step on a few occasions, Groenke was able to maximize his points across each round. By the time the series came to Alabama, he was able to secure the championship in style.

• In the TCX class, the fastest race laps of the year were set by three different drivers. Championship winner Chris Walsh scored six fastest laps in total, with Celso Neto matching him to achieve this feat six times as well, while Lucas Catania, who ran a partial season, earned the quickest lap on two occasions.

• Ricca’s dominance and rapid pace were further demonstrated in the TC class after scoring an impressive twelve fastest laps, doing so at each race weekend event with the exception of one – Road America. In Wisconsin, it was Cristian Perocarpi who was the one to beat, going quickest in both races.

• PJ Groenke was the fastest TCA class driver in ten out of the fourteen rounds. Alex Garcia was able to go just a bit faster in three events, showing his prowess at VIRginia International Raceway in particular. Additionally, Bruce Myrehn was able to score the fastest lap in class at Road America.

• Over the course of the year, the series completed an impressive 280 laps across fourteen rounds. The longest of the 40-minute races was Race 2 at Barber Motorsports Park, which covered 26 laps.
