The 2025 TC America season is just around the corner, and Toyota Gazoo Racing North America has big ambitions with the introduction of the GR Corolla TC, a purpose-built race car designed for both track day enthusiasts and professional racers. This high-performance machine is set to compete in the newly combined TC class, and Toyota is eager to hit the ground running.
Race-Ready Enhancements
Starting with the production GR Corolla, the GR Corolla TC underwent a series of significant upgrades to further enhance its performance, safety, and handling for competitive racing. The vehicle retains its 1.6L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It features Toyota’s GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed Gazoo Racing Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT), ensuring precise power delivery on the track.
Toyota has equipped the GR Corolla TC with motorsport-focused modifications, including:
Braking System: Alcon 6-piston front and 2-piston rear brakes with Bosch Motorsport ABS for superior stopping power.
Suspension: TGRNA-designed MacPherson struts in the front and a double wishbone multi-link rear suspension, paired with JRi dual-adjustable shocks and Hypercoil springs for optimal handling.
Aerodynamics: A front splitter made from Milliken Tegris® composite material and an APR Performance rear wing for increased downforce.
Electronics & Controls: Bosch Motorsport engine management, power control, and driver display systems, ensuring precision and adaptability in race conditions.
Safety Features: FIA-approved roll cage, OMP fiberglass racing seat with a six-point harness, and an OMP electronically activated fire suppression system.
Competition in TC America
The GR Corolla TC is set to debut in the 2025 TC America season, where the TCX and TC classes have been merged into a single, more competitive category. This change will provide a more diverse racing platform, pitting various manufacturers against each other in intense wheel-to-wheel action.
The season will feature seven events and 16 races across renowned circuits, including Sonoma Raceway, Circuit of The Americas, Sebring, Sebring International Raceway, Virginia International Raceway, Road America, Barber Motorsports Park, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Notably, the events held in Florida and Alabama will include three races in a single weekend, an increase from previous seasons.
Toyota’s Incentive Program
Toyota Gazoo Racing North America is offering a lucrative purse and prize structure to support GR Corolla TC competitors. The highest-finishing GR Corolla TC driver will receive a $5,000 reward, with additional end-of-season championship bonuses reaching up to $20,000.
