Ricca Extends Hyundai N Trophy Cup Lead After Barber Tripleheader

The Hyundai N Trophy Cup returned to action with a busy tripleheader weekend at Barber Motorsports Park for the twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth rounds of the TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School championship. The weekend brought standout performances, a strong debut, and further clarity in the championship picture heading into the season finale.

Leading the way was Jeff Ricca, who continued to set the standard for Hyundai competitors. Driving the No. 78 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC EVO, Ricca secured back-to-back runner-up finishes in Race 2 and Race 3, the best Hyundai result in both rounds. Those podiums further solidified his lead in the Hyundai N Trophy Cup standings, where he now holds 171 points, well clear of his closest rivals.

Ricca’s consistency and dominance this season has already earned him the TC America Driver’s Championship title for the second consecutive year, along with a $10,000 prize. With the Hyundai N Trophy Cup crown within reach at Indianapolis, Ricca stands to add another $5,000 bonus, plus an additional $5,000 for the Hyundai Manufacturer Championship in his role as team owner of Ricca Autosport.

The fight for second in the Hyundai N Trophy Cup is tightening. PJ Groenke wheeled his No. 76 Hyundai Elantra N1 TC EVO to a pair of podiums in Race 2 and Race 3, moving his tally to 118 points. However, Connor Attrell and the No. 75 Hyundai entry closed the gap, leaving Barber with 114 points total and keeping the battle for runner-up honors alive.

The opening race of the weekend also provided a highlight moment, as newcomer Alana Carter made a memorable debut. Driving the No. 74 Hyundai Elantra N1 TC EVO, she impressed in her first outing with a front-wheel drive touring car, finishing second overall and first among the Hyundai entries in Race 1.

The champion of the Hyundai N Trophy Cup season will receive an exclusive invitation to compete in the final round of the 2025 Hyundai N Festival one-make race series in South Korea, racing against Hyundai N Cup champions from around the world. Additionally, standout performers throughout the season may be selected for a post-season evaluation with Bryan Herta Autosport in the Elantra N TCR.
