(WATKINS GLEN, NY) – Johan Schwartz, the TC series championship points leader, paced this morning's first TC America practice session of the weekend at Watkins Glen International. Presented by CrowdStrike the August 30 to September 1 event will showcase two 40-minute TC contests at the renowned 11-turn, 3.4-mile road course.
The 35-minute session was held under overcast 62-degree Fahrenheit weather conditions. Schwartz, driving the #80 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M240iR Cup enters the weekend atop the driver's championship standings with 150 points. Early in the session he posted a 2:03.535 to top the charts. Toby Grahovec, Schwartz's main challenger sitting second in driver's standings with 109 points posted a 2:03.904 to slot into second on the charts. Grahovec drives the #26 Classic BMW BMW M240iR Cup. Schwartz's teammate Steve Streimer in the #81 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M240iR Cup posted a 2:04.176 to slot into third.
With 13 minutes left in the session TechSport Racing's Joseph Federl in the #23 Nissan 370z moved into second with a 2:03.899. He then improved to a 2:03.767.
At the end of the session, Schwartz's time held for top spot, while Federl's fast time held for second on the charts. Grahovec improved his time near the end of the session to a 2:03.869 to solidify third on the charts.
