Watkins Glen, NY - Michael McCann Jr took his #3 McCann Racing Audi RS3 LMS to the top of the time sheets to lead practice session 1 with a best lap time of 1:57.808, two-tenths of a second faster than championship leader Michael Hurczyn and his #71 FCP Euro VW Golf GTI TCR. James Walker and the #34 Risi Competizione Alfa Romeo would leap to third in the late running with a 1:58.605. Nate Vincent would bring the #72 FCP Euro VW Golf GTI home fourth with a 1:58.697 fastest lap with Victor Gonzalez finishing the session fifth in his #99 VGMC Racing Honda Civic Type R. The TCR Cup class would be lead by Christian Cole and the #27 McCann Racing Audi RS3 LMS with a 1:59.385 fastest lap, which was good enough for the seventh fastest lap of the first session.
Taylor Hagler and the #77 X-Factor Racing Honda Civic Si would best the class with a 2:10.934 lap time with Tyler Maxson and the #74 Copeland Motorsports Mazda MX5 Cup second. Nate Norenberg was the third fastest with a 2:11.540 best lap in the #60 MINI Cooper JCW. TCA championship leader Nick Wittmer would run the fourth fastest lap in his #91 TechSport Racing Subaru BRZ tS with Mark Pombo and the #59 Mini Cooper JCW rounding out the top five.
