Past TC America Champ Toby Grahovec, Phil Bloom in the TC Hunt This Weekend at VIR in Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW Cars

The Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team returns to action this weekend (July 9-12) at VIRginia International Raceway after a four-month layoff due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic around the world.

Following 2020 rescheduling events in the SRO TC America series, Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW teammates Toby Grahovec and Phil Bloom come to the 3.27-mile, 14-turn fast VIR road circuit with matching BMW M240iR sports cars to compete in the three 40-minute Touring Car main events set for Friday (July 10) at 2:15 p.m. EDT, Saturday (July 11) at 11:30 a.m. EDT and Sunday (July 12) at 11:20 a.m. EDT. Sunday’s feature will be a make-up race for the cancelled weekend previously set for Lime Rock Park in May.

Earlier this year at Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Grahovec, the 2016 TC America series champion, recorded two runner-up finishes in the No. 26 Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW BMW M240iR machine and the Celina, Tex., veteran driver expects to be one of the contenders in all three TC America main events this weekend at VIR. Bloom, in the No. 11 Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW BMW M240iR sedan, made his Fast Track Racing debut at COTA and looked solid in working with the 2018 BMW World Sports Trophy organization on car setups.

Now, both Grahovec and Bloom take on a strong TC class field when practice runs begin on Thursday at the popular VIR road course.

“We have been successful in the past at VIR with our Classic BMW BMW M240iR cars,” said Grahovec, who placed second in last year’s TC America final points. “I think most of the TC America guys really like driving at VIR. It’s a tremendously challenging track and very fast. Plus, it’s so fun that everyone has a blast at that place. I think Phil and I can be right in the hunt. It’s a very busy weekend with three TC races and three GT4 events for the Fast Track Racing crew. But this is way we love to compete. We hope to get to the top of the podium at VIR.”

Grahovec, the Fast Track Racing team manager, will also drive in the GT4 SprintX contests with young Texan Chandler Hull as well at VIR.

Bloom has been training hard during the pandemic to prepare for the hot conditions this weekend at VIR.

“VIR is one of my favorite tracks,” said Bloom, a multi-time starter at the southern Virginia racing facility. “I’m looking forward to finally getting back to racing. The hiatus has given me plenty of time to get in shape for the hot weather and tight racing I expect during this tripleheader weekend. I want to thank the SRO and VIR staffs for doing everything they could to get us all back to what we love doing -- racing.”

Practice runs for the TC America series at VIR gets underway on Thursday (July 9) at 9 a.m. EDT followed by a qualifying round Friday at 10:50 a.m. EDT. Race 1 begins Friday at 2:15 p.m. EDT followed by Race 2 Saturday at 11:30 a.m. EDT and Race 3 Sunday at 11:20 a.m. EDT.
