Ben Bettenhausen Joins TechSport Racing for 2019 SRO America TCA Season

AUSTIN, Tex. – A new season of sports car racing for SRO America begins this season at Circuit of the Americas and newcomer Ben Bettenhausen will make his full season debut in the TCA class with 2018 Team and Manufacturer champions, TechSport Racing in the #95 Subaru BRZ tS.

As a third cousin to longtime IndyCar racer Gary Bettenhausen, Ben’s love of cars and roots in racing have been a part of his life since he can remember. Just one year ago, he purchased a Z28 and participated in a high performance driving event. It was there he was encouraged to buy a Subaru BRZ and compete at SCCA club racing events. For the 2019 season, Bettenhausen will compete in the SRO America TCA class, with the intention to advance to the GT4 America class in 2020.

“I started racing relatively recently, and TechSport Racing’s given me so much support as a developing driver,” said Bettenhausen. “After training hard all year with Michael Johnson and Eric Powell, I can’t wait to get in the arena with all the really accomplished drivers who will be there. I’m really passionate about driving and I love competition. SRO America is really going to help me up my game as a race car driver.”

“Everyone at Tech Sport Racing is excited to have Ben Bettenhausen in our #95 Subaru BRZ,” said TechSport Racing co-owner Deborah Popolizio. “He has proven himself an incredibly capable driver. The transition to a professional series should be seamless for him.”

The SRO America TCA schedule will consist of seven double header events across North America, beginning with Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Thursday will begin with two test sessions, followed by two practice sessions on Friday. Saturday will host qualifying and race one (11:15AM CT), and Sunday will close out the weekend with race two (11:40AM CT). Both races will stream live on world-challenge.com.
