TCR Championship leader Tyler Maxson and the #74 Copeland Motorsports Hyundai Veloster N TCR kicked-off official TC America practice 1 on top after running a fastest lap of 1:49.702 around the 2.5 mile, 12-turn course in northern California. Just behind Maxson went the #99 VGMC Honda Civic Type-R of Victor Gonzalez Jr with a 1:50.052 quickest lap with Roy Block and the #5 KMW Motorsports w/ TMR Engineering Alfa Romeo Giulietta coming home third quickest.
The TC class was led by Johan Schwartz and the #31 Hard Motorsport BMW M240iR with a fastest lap of 1:53.447, just .132 of second faster than the #36 BimmerWorld BMW M240iR of James Clay. Joseph Federl would finish the session in third in the #23 TechSport Racing Nissan 370Z.
Tyler Gonzalez sat atop the TCA class with a fastest lap of 1:58.109 in the #57 Copeland Motorsports Hyundai Veloster Turbo with teammate Luke Lange sitting second in the #50 Copeland Motorsports Hyundai Veloster Turbo. Mark Pombo and the #61 MINI JCW Team Mini Cooper ran the third fastest time of 1:58.676.
