The 2020 TC America TCR Championship will come to a close this weekend at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. In a jampacked race weekend, the series will take to the track alongside the TC America TC and TCA classes, the Skip Barber Formula Series, Pirelli GT4 America Sprint and SprintX, the NTT INDYCAR series for the INDYCAR Harvest Grand Prix and GT World Challenge America for the Indianapolis 8 Hour.
Maxson's race weekend will take place from Thursday, October 1st through Saturday, October 3rd, where he will officially be named Champion for the second year in a row. After taking the top step of the podium in 11 of the 14 races so far this season, Maxson has extended his lead by over 100 points and has also helped lead Copeland Motorsports to their second back-to-back team championship win.
"I am looking to close the season on a high and add a couple more race wins to my resume," expressed Maxson. "The Copeland Motorsports crew and the Hyundai Veloster N duo have been on point all season long, and we would like nothing more to stand on the top step in Indy."
To close out the 2020 Championship season, Maxson has two final races remaining and, with the championship title already in the bag, he will be going after his 12th and 13th wins of the year in his #74 Hyundai Veloster N TCR. Maxson will first take to the track on Thursday for two practice sessions followed by qualifying later in the day. Over the remaining two days, he will focus on his two final races of the championship season.
This weekend, a limited number of spectators will be allowed in the venue while following strict safety protocols and social distancing. Fans who wish to see Maxson compete for the final time this year and be crowned TCR champion can still purchase tickets for the weekend at https://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com. For fans who are unable to attend the event in person, live timing and a live stream of both races will still be available on the TC America website at https://www.tcamerica.us/live.
Tyler Maxson would like to thank Copeland Motorsports, Bryan Herta Autosport, Hyundai, HRX USA and Four Seasons Auto Wash for all of their help, support and hard work throughout the 2020 season.
