INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW team captured another TC America championship last weekend at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway when drivers Toby Grahovec and Bryson Lew scored podium finishes and the Plano, Tex.-based organization took the TC Class Team points title at the 2.439-mile, 14-turn road circuit inside the historic 2.5-mile oval track.

Grahovec, the Fast Track Racing team manager and lead driver, wheeled his No. 26 Classic BMW BMW M240iR sedan to two runner-up finishes in the Friday and Saturday 40-minute sprint events and Lew, the 17-year-old high schooler from Moraga, Calif., placed third Saturday in his No. 27 Classic BMW BMW M240iR in a sensational comeback drive.

Those podium placings on Saturday secured the team points title with Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW scoring 275 markers to Bimmerworld’s 272. It was the third TC America Team points championship in the last four seasons for the Fast Track Racing/Classic BMW organization. The team also won the crown in 2017 and 2018. Grahovec scored the 2016 TC class driver championship as well for Fast Track Racing.

“We were very excited to come to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and compete in the TC America season finale races,” said Grahovec, a three-time TC race winner in 2020. “We knew we had to score valuable points in both the team and driver standings to have a chance to win the titles. While I finished second in the driver points to James Clay, we were able to bring home the team championship again. The crew again showed why they are one of the best teams in all of SRO America with a third title in four years. I want to congratulate James for winning the driver championship with a BMW M240iR. He and I raced hard and fair all year. It was the best competition out there this year.”

In the 14 TC America rounds, Grahovec, the Celina, Tex., father of two young children, won three TC events and placed second six times as well as third place twice.

Lew, the former French F4 racer, joined the TC America field in the middle of the 2020 campaign and proved to be a contender quickly with three third placings, one fifth and two sixths while missing the first half of the year. Collecting a podium at IMS was a thrill in his debut at the “Brickyard.”

On Saturday, Lew was spun on the opening lap and fought his way back in the 26-lap event to finish third in the No. 27 Classic BMW BMW M240iR. The third-place finish gave Bryson sixth in the final TC class points with just eight starts.

“What a thrill to race at Indy and then come back after getting hit to finish third,” said Lew. “In my first Indy appearance, I was able to reach that harrowed ground in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway victory lane. Thanks so much to Toby Grahovec and the whole Classic BMW crew for giving me a strong BMW M240iR. I loved competing in the TC America series this year.”

Veteran Phil Bloom also put in a solid performance at Indy, taking his No. 11 Classic BMW BMW M240iR sedan to fifth and ninth and the Massachusetts racer also placed sixth in the TC category points. Bloom missed the middle of the season but returned for the final four rounds at COTA and IMS.

Seventeen-year-old Ally Raphael made her TC America debut at Indy this weekend and drove the No. 82 Classic BMW BMW M240iR car to a Top 10 finish Saturday.

The TC America race highlights at IMS is televised on the CBS Sports Network on Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. EDT.
