ELKHART LAKE, Wisc. - Road America may be over four miles long, but qualifying for TC America Powered by Skip Barber came down to inches. Jacob Ruud, driving the #81 BMW M2 CS Cup for Classic BMW, set the fastest lap in qualifying, at 2:24.211, 0.001-seconds faster around the fourteen-turn course than session runner-up Stephen Cugliari in the #57 BMW for Accelerating Performance. Both drivers will share the front row for the TCX grid for the first of two forty-minute races this weekend. Steve Streimer in the #30 Hard Motorsport BMW M2 CS Cup will start third, with a time of 2:25.364.
The TC category will be led to the green by Eric Powell, the current TC points leader, in the #92 Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Type-R, who ran a fast lap of 2:29.158. The driver who trails him in points, Kevin Boehm in the #9 DXDT Racing Honda Civic Type-R, will start directly behind him in the second row. The driver who will share the front row with Powell in TC is Austen Smith’s #51 Auto Technic Racing BMW M240iR.
In TCA, Carter Fartuch won pole with a time of 2:37.225 in his #16 Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Si, a second faster than second place starter Clayton Williams in the #62 MINI JCW Mini Cooper. TCA points leader Caleb Bacon in the #18 Forbush Performance Hyundai Veloster Turbo will start third alongside the Team Sally Racing #780 Honda Civic Si driven by Sally McNulty.
