Ruud, Powell, Blanco Lead Respective Classes in Touring Car Practice at Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen, NY - The first TC America Powered by Skip Barber practice at Watkins Glen International was topped by a familiar face, the championship leading #81 BMW M2 CS Cup driven by Jacob Ruud for Classic BMW in the TCX category. Ruud set a time of 2:02.149, a second quicker than his closest rival - the #38 BMW M2 CS Cup of Joseph Catania, driving for Rigid Speed. In third was the #30 BMW M2 CS Cup of Steve Streimer for Hard Motorsport.

In the TC category, the #92 Honda Civic Type-R of Eric Powell with Skip Barber Racing School was quickest, setting a time of 2:05.704. Powell leads the TC class points heading into the Watkins Glen weekend. Another Honda Civic Type-R, the #37 of Mike LaMarra, was second quickest, with a time of 2:06.047, followed by the #60 Mini JCW PRO of Derek Jones.

In TCA, the fastest car was the #99 Honda Civic Si driven by Jose Blanco, who topped the timing chart with a 2:10.909, two hundredths quicker than the #16 Honda Civic Si of Carter Fartuch driving for Skip Barber Racing School. The #780 Honda Civic Si of Sally McNulty was third fastest in TCA.

TC America Powered by Skip Barber Racing school will practice again at 2:20 ET, followed by qualifying on Saturday, September 18th at 9:40 AM, with Race 1 at 4:25 PM. Race 2 will be Sunday, September 19th at 10:00 AM. Both races will air live on SRO’s GT World YouTube Channel.
