The first practice for TC America Powered by Skip Barber Racing School at Sebring International Raceway finished a few minutes early due to a red flag in the closing moments of the session.
The quickest driver in the TCX category was the #57 BMW M2 CS Cup of Stephen Cugliari, who makes his return to the Accelerating Performance team after winning at Road America. Cugliari ran a time of 2:19.426, 1.2 seconds clear of the second place car, the #5 BMW M2 CS Cup of Roy Block, driving for KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering. In third, the #81 BMW of Jacob Ruud ran a time of 2:20.803. Ruud and Classic BMW lead the championship and enter Sebring after winning the second race at Watkins Glen.
In TC, the fastest car was the #92 Honda Civic Type-R of Eric Powell, who currently leads the TC standings in his Skip Barber Racing School car. Powell’s time of 2:23.955 was two tenths of a second quicker than the #51 BMW M240iR of Austen Smith, driving for Auto Technic Racing. The #88 Hyundai Veloster N of Michael Sousa, driving for Genracer, was third fastest with a time of 2:24.219.
The #99 Honda Civic Si of Jose Blanco paced the TCA field in first practice with a time of 2:31.687, ahead of the #18 Hyundai Veloster Turbo of Caleb Bacon, driving for Forbush Performance. Bacon’s teammate, the #33 Hyundai of Luke Rumburg, was third fastest in the TCA class.
The next on track action for TC America Powered by Skip Barber Racing School is at 1:35 PM ET for final practice. Qualifying is Saturday, October 2nd at 9:40 AM ET, followed by Race 1 at 3:05 PM ET.
