Sebring, Florida - The TC America powered by Skip Barber drivers returned to the Florida track once more today for the second practice session this afternoon. Track temperatures rose higher and lap times got quicker as the competition heated up. Drivers from each class swapped positions across the entire session.
TCX
After topping the charts in the first practice session this morning, Lucas Catania was looking strong yet again in the TCX class, as he was leading for the majority of the session in the #26 Rigid Speed BMW M2 CS (Cup). Runner-up in the first practice session, Colin Garrett continued to inch closer and closer to his rival ahead. He briefly placed his #44 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M2 CS (Cup) into the top spot before Catania took back the position with a few minutes remaining in the session. However, it was Garrett that would get the last word as he set the fastest time of the day on the final lap of the session, crossing the line with a 2.19.261. Only 0.0094 seconds separated the two drivers, indicating that tomorrow’s qualifying session will be a nail-biter. New Yorker Stephen Cugliari rounded off the Top 3 in the #57 Accelerating Performance BMW M2 CS (Cup).
TC
In the TC class, it was Kris Valdez that set the top time of 2.25.375 in his #09 DRS & Garagistic BMW M240iR. He was in very good company, with race winner Clay Williams following closely behind in his #60 MINI JCW Team Mini JCW Pro TC. Fresh off a win at the previous round at Road America, Williams will be looking to add more silverware to his collection. This morning’s leader, Kevin Boehm, drove his #9 CrowdStrike Racing by Skip Barber Racing Honda Civic Type-R to the third-best time in the TC class.
TCA
After dominating the TCA class in the first practice session, Branyon Tiner came back for more as he went quickest again in the afternoon. The #98 BRYAN HERTA AUTOSPORT W/ CURB-AGAJANIAN Hyundai Elantra N-Line is the one to aim for, as Carter Fartuch (#16 Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Si) and Cristian Perocarpi (#61 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW) battled closely behind to round off the Top 3 in the class. An intense three-way battle between this talented bunch could be in the cards this weekend.
Qualifying starts at 8:30 AM ET on Saturday, followed by Race 1 at 1:05 PM ET.
