- Race Two Results
The TC America powered by Skip Barber series took to Circuit Of The Americas for Race Two. Cloudy skies hovered over the track at the green flag; light rain fell in the previous on-track session. The track surface was neither fully wet nor dry making it a tough call for teams when it came to their Pirelli tires. The conditions continued to change over the course of the race. The skies brightened, the track dried. The more consistent surface conditions gave drivers confidence as the clock wound down. The field of 24 entries kept the race green while pushing hard over the course of the 40-minute race.
TCX Class
Winner Collin Garrett took over the lead from pole sitter Maddie Aust in the No. 09 Fast Track Racing BMW M2 CS on Lap 1 and never looked back. The No. 44 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M2 CS of Garrett smoothly made its way around the 3.425, 20-turn track. A drastic difference from Race One where Garrett and Aust went tire to tire with Race One winner Lucas Catania.
Aust kept her distance in second from third-place finisher Kyle Loh in the No. 73 LA Honda World Honda Civic Type-R. While Loh had a few moments to take a look at overtaking Aust he ultimately settled into a rhythm of protecting his position giving Aust a gap. Loh would valiantly defend his position through the checkered flag as multiple cars took a shot at taking over third place in the final laps of the race.
TC Class
In the TC Class Clay Williams in the No. 60 MINI JCW Team Mini JCW Pro TC pushed past pole-sitter Celso Neto in the No. Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Type-R on Lap 1. Williams turned the opportunity into a class win, sweeping the weekend. Neto would slip to third as Cristian Perocarpi and the No. 37 MINI JCW Team Mini JCW Pro TC lunged for a pass and made it stick on Lap 3. Neto would settle into third and hold the position for the remainder of the race.
The drivers capitalized on the absence of driver Jeff Ricca who collected four wins in four races prior to rounds five and six taking place at COTA. Ricca competed in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, showcasing the deep talent pool of SRO Motorsports America by qualifying second in his class.
TCA Class
It was a similar story in the TCA Class with the pole sitter losing the lead on Lap 1. P.J. Groenke in No. 62 MINI JCW Team Mini JCW pulled off the pass but would dramatically falll back giving William Lambros in the No. 77 Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Si FE1 the lead and the win. Spencer Bucknum in the No. 5 LA Honda World Racing Honda Civic Si FE1 finished second by keeping his head down and focusing forward. His position came under fire by Race One winner Devin Anderson who had an unfortunate early retirement from the race.
Third place in the TCA Class went to Mario Biundo in the No. 07 LA Honda World Racing Honda Civic Si. Biundo climbed his way to the podium elbows out in a race of attrition. This was his first podium of the 2023 season.
