- Williams Leads Points Charge in TC Class
- Neto, Ricca Neck and Neck
- Women Racers, Rookies Take Spotlight
The TC America powered by Skip Barber series has reached the midway point of the season and the Drivers Points Championship is closer to being decided. There are six rounds of racing remaining for the TC America Class and with plenty of wins on the table anything is still possible.
Clayton Williams is the current leader in the TC Class No. 60 MINI JCW Team Mini JCW Pro TC. Williams has racked up 163 points to put him atop of the Drivers Points Championship by claiming four race wins in a row. Those four wins are paired with three podium finishes. Williams has only failed to make a podium appearance in one round of racing.
Sitting in second is Celso Neto with 120 points. Neto took the first two rounds at Sonoma Raceway to learn the ins and outs of his No. 7 Skip Barber Racing School Honda Civic Type R. By NOLA Motorsports Park he proved to have gained enough experience to start a string of six podium finishes, four of which are second-place finishes. He’ll be searching for a win and some luck to go his way at the next rounds of racing at Road America.
Jeff Ricca started out dominating the season, and it shows through his 116 points and third-place position. Ricca stacked up four wins in the first four races before taking a short hiatus to race in Europe. Some bad luck mechanically ended his races early at VIRginia International Raceway when he returned to America and his No. 78 Genracer/ Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TC. But if experience teaches anything, it's never to count Ricca and the all-new Hyundai Elantra N TC out.
Fourth place is Cristian Perocarpi with 92 points in seven races with the No. 37 MINI JCW Team Mini JCW Pro TC. Perocarpi has finished on podium in three races including two third-place finishes and a second-place finish at Circuit of the Americas. He missed out on Round Four, but his consistent effort should keep him in the points standings conversation.
Sally McNulty is the competitor in fifth place with 83 points to her name. McNulty earned two podium finishes at VIR this season in the No. 780 Genracer/ Ricca Autosport Hyundai Veloster N DCT TC. The finishes were career highs for McNulty who began racing with the TC America series in 2019. She’ll work to make a habit of podium appearances in the remaining six rounds.
Kris Valdez did not compete at VIR which saw him slide back from fifth to sixth position in the points standings. Valdez has accumulated 52 points over the course of six races in the No. 11 DRS Honda Civic Type R. While he is always close to a top-three conversation, he is still in search of his first podium of the season.
Michael Hurczyn has competed in three races this season and in those three runs, he finished in third place twice. Always a strong competitor, Hurczyn can change the conversation of a race anytime he’s entered. He has 42 points in seventh place.
Rounding out the TC Class field is Jeremiah Burton in eighth place with 40 points. He joined the series and TC Class at Circuit of the Americas, his first outing with the series. Burton is clearly garnering speed figuratively and literally. His Race Two finish was his best to date, he placed fourth in the TC Class.
