Dominance on Display in TC America Practice 2

The TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School field returned for another thirty minutes of track time as they tackled VIRginia International Raceway for Practice 2 on Friday afternoon. Although there was a brief red flag, the competitors were unfazed as they maximized their use of the session ahead of Qualifying tomorrow morning. 

Chris Walsh continued his dominance in the TCX Class as he went fastest overall again in the No. 104 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M2 CS (Cup). In the TC class, it was Jeff Ricca who reaffirmed his frontrunner status aboard his No. 78 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC, with PJ Groenke doing the same in TCA in his No. 62 MI. NI JCW Team MINI JCW

TCX Class

Chris Walsh took his claim over first place in Practice 2 as well, flying around VIR in his No. 104 Carrus Callas Raceteam BMW M2 CS (Cup). Walsh continued to out-do his own times as the time ticked away, eventually setting his best time of the session on his tenth lap. 

Celso Neto continued to inch closer and closer as well, completing the session in his No. 22 Skip Barber Racing Acura Integra Type S just 0.336 seconds behind Walsh’s top time. Cooper Broll placed himself in the Top 3 once more with his No. 19 Skip Barber Racing Acura Integra Type S, followed by Christopher DeFreitas in his No. 39 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura Integra Type S.

TC Class

Following his dominance in Practice 1, Jeff Ricca established himself as the frontrunner yet again for Practice 2, scoring the fastest lap time in class on board his No. 78 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC, in addition to setting the fourth-quickest time overall. Meanwhile, Cristian Perocarpi was making moves in his No. 37 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW TC Pro as he rose to second place in the timesheets. 

Joey Jordan showed progress in the afternoon session, steadily moving up the leaderboard before settling into place in his No. 71 FTG Racing Mazda 3. Ron Zaras had another strong showing in the No. 76 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC, while his teammate Ruben Iglesias Jr made another Top 5 appearance in the No. 77 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC. 

TCA Class

PJ Groenke asserted himself around VIR in the TCA class as he replicated his consistent performance in the No. 62 MINI JCW Team MINI JCW. Fellow MINI JCW Team driver Alan Grossberg had another efficient session as well, gaining more knowledge of his No. 63 MINI JCW and the intricacies of the track as he clocked in another 12 laps over the course of Practice 2.
