The 2024 season saw three teams stand out and emerge above the rest as the undisputed champions in their respective classes in TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School. Carrus Callas Raceteam, Ricca Autosport, and the MINI JCW Team each claimed top honors, securing their places as the dominant forces in the TCX, TC, and TCA classes, respectively. As the checkered flag dropped on a memorable season, it was clear that 2024 would be remembered for the remarkable achievements of these championship-winning squads.
TCX Class
After putting in stellar performances from start to finish, it’s no surprise that Carrus Callas Raceteam became Team Champions in the TCX class. As Chris Walsh continued to put in powerhouse performances race after race, the team’s lead continued to grow.
They concluded the season with 308 points, which can be attributed to eight wins and six second-place finishes across all fourteen rounds, consistently remaining at the front of the field as they never faltered in a single event.
It was a relatively close battle with Skip Barber Racing, as the team had a strong second half of the season that brought them closer in the fight for the title. Despite their comeback swing, Carrus Callas Raceteam could not be dethroned, which ultimately led them to championship victory.
TC Class
In the TC class, it was evident that Ricca Autosport were consistently a step ahead of the rest of the field. Represented by a large fleet, the team dominated across the entirety of the season. They claimed win after win, and swept the full podium on more than one occasion. They completed their 2024 efforts with 329 points, putting them comfortably ahead of their next-closest competitor.
All in all, they wrapped up the year with eleven wins and nineteen podiums, with six different drivers from the Ricca Autosport camp getting to walk away with some well-earned hardware.
“Securing a driver’s championship is something that is very rewarding, but to be able to secure a team championship is truly the icing on the cake for any team,” said Ricca Autosport’s Jeff Ricca. “Being able to represent a manufacturer like Hyundai, who stands by us so much and helps us out a great deal, is just exceptional.”
TCA Class
The MINI JCW Team were nearly flawless in the TCA class, walking away from the 2024 season as Team Champions with a total of 315 points. While they were represented by a various array of drivers over the course of the year, PJ Groenke was the main one flying the MINI banner.
In addition to scooping up the Driver’s Championship, Groenke helped lead the team to victory in the Team Championship as well, maximizing points on eight occasions, and serving as the main frontrunner. In the end, they finished 100 points ahead of Skip Barber Racing.
“The amazing MINI USA and MINI JCW Team tirelessly work to have our car ready and competitive for every race weekend and event,” said TCA Driver Champion PJ Groenke. “I have never experienced anything quite like their expertise, effort, and determination to make sure we are ready to rock for every session. I can't thank Luis, Rob, Zdravko, Tony, every MINI JCW Team member, MINI USA and their awesome employees enough for allowing me the opportunity to do what we did in 2024!”
