PORTLAND, Ore. – Nate Vincent once again topped the overall TCR/TC/TCA charts at Portland International Raceway – this time for Friday’s practice #2 for the TC America series, part of the 59th Annual Rose Cup Races presented by Fastlife.TV. Bryan Putt was fastest in the TCR Cup class, while Johan Schwartz posted the fastest TC time, and Tyler Maxson the fastest in TCA.
In the early stages of the combined 40-minute session, Copeland Motorsports' Mason Filippi, driver of the #12 Hyundai Veloster N went to the top of the charts and first in the TCR category with a 1:19.652. FCP Euro’s Michael Hurczyn in the #71 Golf GTI TCR slotted into second posting a 1:19.865, while his teammate Vincent in the #72 machine slotted into third with a 1:19.988.
In TCR Cup, Putt, driving the #15 eEuroparts.com ROWE Racing Audi Sport RS3 LMS (DSG) posted the fastest time in the category with a 1:21.239, while Schwartz, in his #80 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M240iR Cup topped the TC class with a 1:22.430. Maxson’s 1:27.286 behind the wheel of the #74 Copeland Motorsports Mazda Global MX5 Cup ND.2 led the TCA class.
With under six minutes in the session, Vincent moved to the overall top spot with a 1:19.305, while Putt improved to a 1:20.479. At the checkered, Vincent’s time held over that set by Filippi. James Walker in the #34 Risi Competizione Alfa Romeo Giulietta Walker rounded out the top three overall and in TCR with a 1:19.699.
Putt’s fast time held in TCR Cup, while Christian Cole in the #27 McCann Racing Audi Sport RS3 LMS (DSG) slotted into second with a 1:20.980, and Stephen Vajda in the #18 EXR Team by Premat Audi Sport RS3 LMS (DSG) third with a 1:21.126.
In TC, Schwartz secured the top position on the charts in his #80 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M240iR Cup with a 1:22.430, while Toby Grahovec in the #26 Classic BMW BMW M240iR Cup posted the second fastest time with a 1:22.986. Portland’s Steve Streimer running at his home track in the #81 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M240iR Cup posted the class’ third fastest time of the session with a 1:23.149.
In TCA, Maxson’s time held while X-Factor Racing’s Chris Haldeman in the #69 Honda Civic Si posted the second fastest time of the session with a 1:27.641. Mark Pombo, in the MINI JCW Team MINI Cooper slotted into third with a 1:27.906.Results are provisional until posted final. TC America action continues Friday with the TC qualifying session for Saturday’s race 1 starting at 2:50 pm PDT, followed by the TCR/TCA qualifying session for Race 1 at 5 pm PDT.
