WATKINS GLEN, NY – Johan Schwartz was once again the quickest TC driver at Watkins Glen International – this time he paced the field in Friday afternoon's second TC America practice session at the 11-turn, 3.4-mile road course.
The 35-minute session featured a flurry of fast times posted by numerous drivers. Early on, Schwartz's teammate Steve Streimer in the #81 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M240iR Cup topped the charts with a 2:04.073. Schwartz in the #80 Rooster Hall Racing BMW M240iR Cup followed with the second quickest time at 2:04.634. Toby Grahovec in the #26 Classic BMW BMW M240iR Cup slotted into third with a 2:04.775.
Streimer and Schwartz then bettered their times respectively with a 2:03.797 and a 2:04.085. Auto Technic Racing's Tom Capizzi in the #52 BMW M240iR Cup bumped Grahovec to fourth with a 2:04.704.
The final 20 minutes of the session saw TechSport Racing's Joseph Federl in the #23 Nissan 370z move into second with a 2:03.979, while Copart/BimmerWorld Racing's Chandler Hull in the #94 BMW M240iR Cup slotted into third with a 2:03.985. Streimer then improved on his top time with a 2:03.742, while Schwartz moved back into second with a 2:03.898. Grahovec then bumped Schwartz with a 2:03.814 to slot into second, and then a lap later best Streimer for top spot with a 2:03.661.
Then on the final laps of the session Schwartz posted what would stand as the quickest time with a 2:03.442. Grahovec’s and Streimer’s times held to complete the top three.
