TCA Champion: Kevin Boehm

TC America rookie Kevin Boehm came into the season with confidence he could contend for wins and podiums, but never expected his 2020 season to play out the way it did. "Just to be here was a dream season," said Boehm after a win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "To start pulling out some wins and then podiums made it even better. And then to be able to pull it together to clinch it one race early. Honestly, it's unreal. I'm an engineer, I took a ton of math classes, and still I almost don't believe the math right now. I'm absolutely thrilled!”

The season started well for the #9 Boehm Racing Honda Civic Si driver, grabbing six 4th places finishes in the first seven races of the season. But then something really clicked at Road America during the season half of the season, where Boehm won his first race, then went on to win five straight, six wins in the last eight races of the season.

“It feels overdue! It’s great to finally put it together this weekend. We had a great qualifying run, and luckily we were able to keep it together here today and grab the win!” said Boehm after his first win at Road America.

Boehm’s consistency is what made championship dreams a reality, never finishing lower than fourth through the season. Besting the likes of Tomas Mejia and Mark Pombo in the always-fast MINI Coopers and young hotshoe Tyler Gonzalez in the Hyundai Veloster Turbo, Boehm put together an amazing season, with his championship run setting himself up with a large target on his back for 2021 as the reigning champ to beat.

“Even before the pandemic,” Boehm explained, “2020 was going to be a difficult year for me since I was making the giant leap from Club Racing to the ultra-competitive TC America series and professional racing. Fortunately, I was welcomed into the series with open arms and quickly felt at home.” Boehm added, “I think the key to my success this year was my drive to learn as quickly and as much as possible - as well as staying out of trouble on the track.”

Concluding, Boehm remarked, “I couldn’t be happier with my results this year and it was all made possible through my key partnerships with AWS, CrowdStrike, DXDT, WedSport, Carbotech, Red Line Oil and Operation Motorsports.”
