Two months ago, Andre Castro held a commanding 30-point lead in the TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing championship, but today, it's Braydon Arthur who has the advantage. After a season that has swung harder than almost anyone could have predicted, the two drivers head into the final two rounds of 2026 separated by just seven points. What began as one driver's advantage has become one of the tightest title fights the series has seen in years.
Before the season reached its midpoint, it was Arthur who held the upper hand. Driving the No. 4 JMF Motorsports Toyota GR Corolla TC, he built a 20-point lead over Castro's No. 77 Ricca Autosport Hyundai Elantra N1 TC EVO through the opening rounds at Sonoma, Circuit of The Americas and into Sebring. For a moment, it looked like it was Arthur's season to lose.
Then Sebring happened. Castro started from pole in Race 1 and led a Ricca Autosport podium sweep. Arthur, meanwhile, brought his Toyota to pit lane with a mechanical issue and was ultimately forced to retire from both races, leaving him scoreless for the entire weekend. In a single round, a 20-point Arthur lead flipped into a 30-point Castro advantage heading to Road Atlanta.
Facing the largest deficit of his season, Arthur delivered. He started from pole in both races at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta and swept the weekend, controlling both 35-minute sprints from the front while Castro fought through traffic to salvage second and fourth. The result cut Castro's lead from 30 points to just 10 and set the stage for Road America following the lengthy summer break.
Entering Road America, Castro still held that 10-point cushion but it didn't last through the weekend. Arthur started from pole yet again and led Race 1 from start to finish despite a chaotic afternoon that included a first-lap multi-car incident and two full-course cautions. Justin Gravett came home second for Ricca Autosport, with Castro recovering to third after early contact dropped him behind several cars.
Race 2 settled the question of who would leave Wisconsin in front. Castro grabbed the early lead into Turn 1, but Arthur reeled him back in and drove away to a clear victory, fending off the defending points leader when it mattered most. It was Arthur's fourth consecutive win and seventh of the season. Castro crossed second but that was still enough to hand Arthur sole possession of the championship lead, now giving him a seven-point advantage as the series turns toward the season's final stretch.
TC America now heads to Barber Motorsports Park (September 25-27) before the season concludes at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (October 8-11). Four races and a maximum of 100 points are still on the table, more than enough to swing the title again in either direction. Castro will look to do at Barber what Arthur did at Road Atlanta and Road America by turning a deficit back into a lead.
Few would have predicted, watching Castro's 30-point lead after Sebring, that the championship would come down to single-digit margins with two rounds to go. But that's exactly where TC America's 2026 title fight now stands as tight as it has been all year, with Indianapolis looming as the round that could decide it all.
