Indianapolis, Ind. - Tim Lewis Jr. picked up right where he left off earlier in the morning and again paced the TC America field in Thursday morning's second practice session of the day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Early on in the 35-minute practice, New German Performance driver Tristan Herbert in the #44 Audi RS3 LMS went to the top overall and in TCR with a 1:35.851 followed by Victor Gonzalez Jr. in the #99 VGMC Racing Honda Civic Type-R TCR (1:36.230). Mat Pombo in the LA Honda World #73 Honda Civic Type-R was tops in TC (1:38.278) and Kevin Boehm in the #9 Boehm Racing Honda Civic Si in TCA (1:43.279).
Herbert a lap later improved to a 1:34.874. KMR Motorsports w/ TMR Engineering's Lewis Jr. in the #55 Alfa Romeo Giulietta then slotted into second with a 1:35.055. Boehm then improved his top spot with a 1:42.111.
The session was hampered by an extended red flag for track repairs resulting after contact between Gonzalez Jr. in the #99 machine and CB Motorsports Matt Forbush in the #33 Hyundai Veloster Ns. Action resumed with under eight minutes remaining in the session and Herbert promptly improved to a 1:34.499. Lewis Jr. then jumped to the top with a 1:34.294, followed by DXDT Racing's Scott Smithson, in the #17 Honda Civic Type-R TCR (1:34.316). Johan Schwartz then posted the fastest TC time with a 1:38.271 behind the wheel of the #31 Hard Motorsport BMW M240iR. Just before the checkered Lewis Jr. went slightly quicker to a 1:34.246.
